“Money Down the Drain” - Identify waste to reduce costs - Sept 26-27

Posted on Monday, July 24, 2017 / Revised on Wednesday, August 02, 2017

Why are you sending expensive ingredients down the drain? What can you do to prevent it from happening? How much product or water is landing on the production floor each hour, each day, resulting in substantial costs over a year? Where can you reuse that product or water to cut costs or even generate revenue?

Gain control of your ingredients, water and production costs, and learn how to turn waste into wealth with “Money Down the Drain,” a one-day workshop, presented by Bruce Taylor and Aleks Poldma of Enviro-Stewards. You will learn:

• to identify common areas of waste found during food processing

• how to measure, reduce, reuse and eliminate common wastes, including: production line waste, water and waste water recovery, and energy items like refrigeration, compressed air and more

• through concrete food processing examples, how the waste approach identifies both cost savings and return on investment

• demonstration of Provision Coalition’s Food Waste Prevention Toolkit created by Enviro-Stewards which is free to all Alberta food processors

• where to find products and expertise to help you tackle your waste, as well as grant opportunities to help support assessment and implementation

• special feature: a round table session with Alberta Agriculture and Forestry on current work within the province, grants and processor feedback

This highly interactive workshop will also feature Alberta food processing case studies recently completed by Enviro-Stewards in collaboration with Alberta Agriculture and Forestry.
